Where To Start?

The most difficult part of any landscape project is simply getting started. The project may initially seem overwhelming, especially if you are not familiar with the process. Like any major project, breaking it into manageable segments and developing a comfortable timeline will simplify the process. This section of our website will give you some ideas on how to do this.

Benefits of Landscape Design

"There's nothing vital about landscape design. And yet, that's exactly what it is: vital.  It's about living things and how they come together with man and man-made objects in ways that enhance them all".

     --Dirk Sutro, Residential Architect magazine

A good design serves as the basis for a successful landscape project. It provides a logical approach to solving problems, it helps avoid a haphazard, "thrown together" look, and it ensures that the right plant is found for the right  place in the landscape. Plants with similar cultural needs (such as sun exposure, water and soil requirements) are grouped together to take full advantage of the site and conserve water resources.

Landscaping should be viewed as an investment. Attractive landscaping  increases the salability and "curb appeal" of your home when it's time to put it on the market. Your garden increases in value over time as the plants mature.  Good landscape design can make a small lot look larger. Perhaps most importantly, it can add to your quality of life and the enjoyment of your home by improving the functionality of your outdoor living space.

If you are building your home or purchasing a newly constructed home, you should select the designer as early in the process as possible. This will help maximize the potential of the site and improve the connection between the design of the home and the design of the landscape.
